I'm a Rock Star!

Zoe loves this song, but only knows a few of the actual lyrics. She was hanging out in her new swimming suit (today is a dress-up day) and decided to rock out. Anthony thinks that the video is too embarrassing to post, so I said I would take a vote. Please comment on this video and say if you think we should keep it posted or not.

My Owwie!

Sam is learning new skills so fast. He learned how to get off our bed just last week. He turns around and crawls down. He realized yesterday that this same skill works on stairs. I allowed him to practice going down the stairs on his own a couple of times just to make sure he was safe in case I did not notice him going down some day. He loves to show-off/master new skills, so he tried going down the stairs every time I put him down yesterday. If we were downstairs already, he climbed up the stairs just to go back down. I tried to stop him every time. I was walking over to stop one of his attempts when he sat up on the edge and fell backwards down the stairs. I threw myself across the floor to catch him. I grabbed his leg and pulled him up. Then I noticed a burning sensation on my knees. I got rug burn! OW! The things we do for our kids.

Primary Talent Show

Last Saturday was the primary talent show at church. The kids all made art to display. Here is Zoe's picture of her flying a kite on the beach. We glued real sea shells and a glitter kite and all sorts of fun stuff on it. That was not enough for Zoe though. She accepted the microphone at one point and informed everyone that she would be singing them a song. Not a single person was prepared for her bravery. Her heart was racing when I went up to see what she was planning to sing. She had no idea what she was doing. So we sang "I Am A Child Of God". I sang in her ear while she sang in the microphone. I am really so proud of her for having the courage to get up and sing.

Sammy Likes Chocolate

Sam has had a taste of chocolate here and there, but today was the day! I needed a little "fix" and decided to eat one of the kids chocolate chicks from Easter. Sam did not feel that me sharing was enough. He needed the entire thing for himself. So I put him in his high chair with it. He ate it so fast! As you can see from the smile, he is now an addict too. At least I have a friend to secretly binge with.

Play Time With Zoe

Although it may seem like a disproportionate amount of our blogs regard Sam (and rightfully so because he's soooooooooo cute!!! :P) we do have other very silly and cute children. Here is our future singing sensation Zoe with her playtime rendition of "Start Of Something New" from High School Musical.

As you can see, when she plays in her room she gets everything out and gets very involved with it all.

The Sam Dance

Sam is just starting to learn how to dance. His newest move is captured here in this short video clip. He holds on to the things around him and throws his head back. Anthony says it reminds him of a Stevie Wonder move. We were watching "Marley and Me" and Sam got way into the music. I love the way babies can take the simplest things and make them so much fun!

Sam's First Haircut

BEFORE
I cut my baby boys hair today. :( So now he is not a baby any longer. As you can tell from the before picture, his hair was getting pretty wild. He just turned nine months on the 17th, so he is getting older and I think he was ready.AFTER
Now he looks like a little enlisted infant. He is trying to walk so he has bruises and scratches all over his face. I am sure his new look will grow on us, but I have to admit I am a little sad to see him looking so big.

Dress-up

I run a day care from my home, so we always have tons of kids at the house. I just recently started caring for older boys. For some reason, they did not want to wear the dresses or ballet costumes when they played dress-up. I asked the AMAZING Aunt Sheila (Wanlass) to help me with my problem. I needed boy costumes!!! She was given a month to help me. She finished her assignment by providing me with an entire suitcase absolutely stuffed with boy costumes. The kids have had so much fun. Now the girls even fight over who gets to be Bat Girl and Super Woman.Officer Sam eating his cuffs

July 11, 2009

We will be welcoming another sister-in-law into the Monsivais family this year. Congrats to Dave and Heidi on their engagement! Heidi is such a great woman and she makes Dave an even better man.

Our Poor Sick Baby

Here is a video of Sam taking his temperature. He has been so sick lately that he knows exactly what to do. I made the video VERY EARLY (and on my phone) the other morning when he was up with a fever so it is not great quality, but if you watch closely you can see him run the thermometer across his forehead. I will try to get him to do it again in better lighting and I will replace the video if he does. I just wanted to share this now since it is so cute.

Oh, and in regards to the sick aspect we are not exactly sure about what is wrong this time, but we will know soon. He had tubes put in a while back. Then he had RSV pneumonia and croup at the same time. He just barely got over all of that, and his ears have started to drain fluid like a runny nose. We just started an antibiotic (again!) today and he will go see his doctor Friday. Please say a prayer for our little man. He never sleeps and we are starting to have a difficult time with everything.

The New Swing Set

Here is a fun video clip of everyone playing on the new swing set over Easter weekend. This was the first time that Sam sat in his new swing and enjoyed it. The video is way longer than it needs to be, but I was just trying to capture how cute everyone was. There is a cute part of Sam eating his swing towards the end that makes it worth watching the entire thing.

Easter Weekend

We decided to skip the crowded parks this year, and have an Easter egg hunt on our own. We put out a ton of candy filled eggs in the yard, and let the kids run around and find them. The kids were all super excited that the Easter Bunny had come to surprise them. It was much nicer than previous years at the park with the hundreds of other kids. The weekend had great weather too. We hope you all had a great Easter like we did!

Locks of Love

I just made another donation to Locks of Love last week. My first donation was just over 12 inches. This time I did only the minimum 10 inches. Anthony loves my new look! We were both really nervous about it, but I am glad I did it. Also, I am thinking of staying short for a while.

Where it all began

I went to a wedding one day in July of 2007. I had RSVP'd for two, but I was not really dating anyone any longer, so I just brought a random date. At the dinner, my date and I sat at a table alone. A couple came up and asked if they could join us (it was Anthony and his date). We all chatted the entire time, but never exchanged names or any solid facts. When Anthony stepped away from the table I inquired about their status. I found out that she was an ex, but he (like me) needed a date. As soon as I left, I texted the groom and asked him to find out who he was and to give him my phone number. When the bride returned to work from her honeymoon, she approached Anthony about me. He had been waiting anxiously for her return so that he could ask for my number. We started talking and went on some great dates. We were married less then four months after that day in July. We both have a hard time remembering life before that day, but every day since has been a day to remember for sure.

Rise and Shine (and poop!)

I was up before 7am today. I laid in bed for a while with Sam. I love to pretend like I am asleep and make Sam try to wake me up. He is so silly! I messed around with him for about thirty minutes, and decided to get up and get ready. I went potty and brushed my teeth. In that VERY SHORT amount of time, Sam pooped out the side of his diaper!!!! Then he started to play in it. I was so shocked, I ran him to the bath. This is a blurry picture of the bed that I took with my phone. I would have taken better pictures, but there was poop everywhere! You cannot tell me that you would have sat there and done a photo shoot.

Starting a Blag

I already have two blogs started ( rateyourparents.blogspot.com and whatmissybought.blogspot.com ) but I guess that is not enough. Everyone we know seems to have an actual blog about themselves and thier families. Anthony really wanted me to start one too. We live so far away from most of our family that it is not always easy to keep everyone informed. I guess this is the best way to do that. I love reading the blogs of other poeple so I hope mine can provide some entertainment as well.
